- Client: National Grid (UK)
- Cooling Power: 240 kW
- Temperature Range: −25°C to +35°C ambient operation
- Conductivity: < 1.0 µS/cm
- Dissolved Oxygen: Low ppb design basis to minimise corrosion
- System Components: Two pure‑water systems with run/standby pumps and auto changeover
- Interesting System features: PLC with touch‑screen HMI; robust, vandal‑resistant construction for outdoor service

Designed for a 40‑year MTBF requirement, these 2 outdoor pure‑water cooling solutions coupled rugged mechanics with low‑maintenance water treatment. Fully stainless construction (including coils) and vandal‑resistant housings protect critical hardware. The PLC/HMI platform offers intuitive operation, alarm rationalisation and remote support.
Given the outdoor location of the units, the design focused on freeze protection, ingress management and long‑interval servicing. DI conditioning uses mixed‑bed polishers and 0.2 μm final filtration. Pumps are paired in run/standby with automatic rotation for a longer lifespan; sensors continuously trend conductivity and oxygen levels to predict resin exhaustion and performance drift.
